New international airport proposed for Nalchik

Nalchik/Agency Caucasus – Kabardino-Balkaria will submit ten of its projects to the committee of the seventh International Investment Forum Sochi-2008 for consideration between September 18 and 21.

Among its projects is there one that requires an investment of 4.2 billion rubles’ worth for the construction of a new international airport in Nalchik, capital of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic.

The project was aimed at modernizing the communicational infrastructure of Kabardino-Balkaria and supplying Russia access to the Middle East, Western Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), said Hasan Timijev, General Director of the Department for Investment Policies at the Ministry of Economic Development in Kabardino-Balkaria.

The present airport in Nalchik can afford only one-way flights. Because it is located in the heart of the city, it cannot be improved, officials said.
